Daily Itinerary
Day 01 Welcome to Luang Prabang (L)
The moment your family steps off the plane into the balmy, tropical air of Luang Prabang, the gentle pace of Northern Laos begins to set in. Nestled at the confluence of the Nam Khan and Mekong rivers, this UNESCO World Heritage town is a rich tapestry of French colonial architecture and ancient Buddhist heritage. We will greet you at the airport and transfer your family to your hotel. After settling into your rooms and unwinding from your journey, step out into the late afternoon glow. As dusk falls, we’ll guide you through the Night Market, where glowing lanterns light up rows of hand-woven textiles, silver jewelry, and wooden handicrafts.

Day 02 Family Bike & Food Discovery (B/L)
Morning light brings the city to life. Mount your bicycles for a breezy, family-friendly pedal through tree-lined lanes. Your first stop is the vibrant morning market, where local vendors stack exotic tropical fruits, fragrant herbs, and colorful jungle produce. Continue along peaceful streets to the Royal Palace National Museum, the elegant Wat Mai, and Wat Xieng Thong, whose sweeping roofs curve gracefully toward the sky.
After a lunch tailored to introducing young taste buds to delicious Lao cuisine, explore the 16th-century Wat Visoun and the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre (TAEC), where interactive displays reveal the traditions of Laos’ diverse ethnic groups. Return your bikes and ascend the steps of Mount Phousi just in time to watch the sun dip beneath mountain ridges across the Mekong, filling the sky with fiery orange and violet hue.

Day 03 Hands-on Rice Farming & Mountain Hike to Hillside Lodge (B/L)
Trade the city streets for the emerald rice terraces of Living Land Farm, nestled beneath striking limestone karsts. Here, your family steps straight into the boots of a Lao farmer. Learn all 13 steps of rice production—from planting seedlings in cool mud to threshing and winnowing the harvest. Meet Susan, Bentley, and Betty—the farm’s beloved, gentle water buffaloes—and take turns steering the wooden plough through the paddy.
After a hearty farm-to-table lunch on the wooden terrace overlooking the fields, transfer to Tad Thong Waterfall. From here, embark on a 2.5-hour nature walk winding through forest canopy and mountain ridges, culminating at Hillside Lodge—a serene eco-retreat hidden in the lush hills surrounding Luang Prabang.

Day 04 Family Relaxation & Nature Day at Hillside Lodge (B)
Wake up to the soft calls of jungle birds and mist rising from the valley. Today is dedicated entirely to family relaxation and gentle exploration at your own pace. Kids can spend the day splashing in the outdoor swimming pool, visiting the lodge’s two friendly resident horses (no riding), or following self-guided nature trails through the surrounding forest up to a panoramic valley viewpoint.
Parents can take advantage of the open-air yoga pavilion surrounded by greenery, or soothe tired muscles with a traditional Lao herbal steam bath infused with fresh local herbs like lemongrass and camphor. Breathe in the crisp mountain air, read a book in a hammock, and savor the slow rhythm of the hills.

Day 05 Village Countryside Trek & Kuang Si Waterfalls (B/L)
After breakfast, transfer to the village of Long Lao Mai, home to Hmong and Khmu communities. Set off on a scenic 9-kilometer (3-to-4-hour) hike along forest trails passing pine groves, fruit orchards, and rice paddies framed by wild jungle peaks.
Your trail emerges at the crown jewel of Northern Laos: Kuang Si Waterfalls. Cascading down multi-tiered limestone formations into brilliant turquoise pools, it is the ultimate natural playground. Spend the afternoon swimming in the cool waters and exploring the nearby Free the Bears visitor center, an inspiring rescue center protecting endangered Asian sun and moon bears. On the return journey, we board a traditional wooden boat to cruise up the Mekong River, reaching Luang Prabang as golden light settles over the water.
